Lambros Papantoniou, Greek Journalist Passed Away

He will be buried in his native village of Mandra, in Xanthi, Greece

In this photo Greek Journalist Veteran in Washington D.C. during one of his last days working at The State Dept. is interviewing H.E. Archbishop Demetrios, Primate of The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, after meeting with Hilary Clinton.
Lambros passed away to the Lord yesterday May 28, 2009. He will be missed by all of us, his friends and collegues.

Ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Αμερικής Δημήτριος και ηγετικά στελέχη της Ομογένειας είχαν συνάντηση με την Υπουργό Εξωτερικών των ΗΠΑ Χίλαρι Κλίντον στο Στέιτ Ντηπάρτμεντ, και της απένειμαν ειδικό βραβείο, στο πλαίσιο του 25ου ετήσιου συνεδρίου της ΠΣΕΚΑ και της «Ενιαίας Συντονιστικής Προσπάθειας -CEH» σήμερα Παρασκευή 22 Μαϊου 2009. Στη συνάντηση παρέστησαν ο πρόεδρος της ΠΣΕΚΑ Φίλιπ Κρίστοφερ , ο πρόεδρος του CEH, Ανδρέας Μανάτος, ο πρόεδρος της Κυπριακής Ομοσπονδίας Αμερικής Πανίκος Παπανικολάου, ο πρόεδρος του UHAC και επίτιμος πρόεδρος του ΣΑΕ, Ανδρέας Αθενς. Archbishop Anastasios and Archbishop Demetrios, OCMC






ΕΓΚΑΙΝΙΑ ΤΟΥ ΝΕΟΥ ΟΡΘΟΔΟΞΟΥ ΙΕΡΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΙΚΟΥ ΚΕΝΤΡΟΥ ΣΤΟΝ ΑΓΙΟ ΑΥΓΟΥΣΤΙΝΟ ΤΗΣ ΦΛΟΡΙΔΑ

Άγιος Αυγουστίνος, Φλόριδα - (21 Μαϊου 2009)

Πραγματοποιήθηκε σήμερα η τελετή των εγκανίων του νέου κτιρίου του "Ορθοδόξου Ιεραποστολικού Κέντρου" που αφιερώθηκε προς τιμήν του Αρχιεπισκόπου Αλβανίας Αναστασίου και του Αρχιεπισκόπου Αμερικής Δημητρίου και θα φέρει το όνομα τους.

Στην τελετή του αγιασμού, που πραγματοποιήθηκε υπό καταρακτώδη βροχή μπροστά στην είσοδο του νεόδμητου κτιρίου, προεξήρχε ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Αμερικής Δημήτριος, μαζί με τον Αρχιεπίσκοπο Αλβανίας Αναστάσιο και το Μητροπολίτη Ιωνά της OCA (Ορθόδοξη Εκκλησία Αμερικής - Ρωσική).

Πρευρέθηκαν 300 περίπου πιστοί, δωρητές και εθελοντές καθώς και οι τοπικές αρχές. Μεταξύ αυτών ο Μητροπολίτης Ατλάντας Αλέξιος της Ελληνικής Ορθοδόξου Αρχιεπισκοπής Αμερικής και πολλοί Ιεράρχες και κληρικοί της SCOBA - Μονίμου Επιτροπής Κανονικών Ορθοδόξων Επισκόπων στην Αμερική της οποίας προεδρεύει ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Δημήτριος.

Το "Ορθόδοξο Ιεραποστολικό Κέντρο - Αρχιεπίσκοπος Αναστάσιος καί Αρχιεπίσκοπος Δημήτριος" είναι οργανισμός που τελεί υπό την δικαιοδοσία και αιγίδα της SCOBA.

OCMC, St. Augustine, SCOBA, Building Detication





St. Augustine, FL - The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC), the foreign mission and evangelism agency of the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas(SCOBA), will dedicate its new Archbishop Anastasios and Archbishop Demetrios Missionary Training and Administration Building on Thursday, May 21, 2009.

The two honorees, His Beatitude Anastasios, Archbishop of Tirana, Durres, and All Albania and His Eminence Demetrios, Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and Chairman of SCOBA, will lead the ceremonies. They will be joined by the hierarchs of SCOBA representing all of the Orthodox jurisdictions in America, the Board of Directors and Staff of OCMC, Missionaries and Mission Team members, benefactors and donors to the successful capital campaign which provided funding for the project, and Orthodox clergy and laity from throughout the country.

Located on a wooded twenty-acre site near Interstate 95, the 12,000 square foot facility is the first permanent building designed, constructed, owned and operated by a SCOBA agency. It includes space for worship, training and meeting rooms, overnight accommodations for visiting Missionaries and Mission Team members, a kitchen, and administrative offices and work areas. State of the art information technology infrastructure is installed throughout to support communications with OCMC’s Missionaries around the world.
SCOBA members and representatives joined Chairman Archbishop Demetrios and His Beatitude Archbishop of Albania and spoke with members of the Press giving interviews upon arriving in St. Auguswtine, Florida today May 20, 2009.

The Direct Archdiocesan District Clergy-Laity Assembly convened at the Church of The Resurrection in Brookville, L.I today May 18, 2009. H.E.
